One of the biggest UK television hits of the last few years, this multi-award winning programme originated in the U.S. and was first aired in the spring of 2004, featuring business magnate Donald Trump as the eventual hirer of the successful ‘apprentice’.
In the UK, The Apprentice was first shown on BBC2 in 2005. Since moving to BBC One with series three, the show has regularly averaged over 8 million viewers, with the final of the fifth series in 2009 attracting over xx million viewers. The sixth series of the show will be shown in 2010.
The Apprentice follows a group of ambitious young businessmen and women as they perform a number of business tasks and compete against each other for the chance to win a £100,000 job as ‘apprentice’ to the British business entrepreneur Sir Alan Sugar.
The Apprentice has won numerous prestigious awards, including a BAFTA Pioneer Award, the coveted Rose d’Or for Reality Show and the Royal Television Society Award for Features & Factual Entertainment.
