Pearson Television originally bought the famous Australia-based Grundy company back in 1995. This naturally became part of our portfolio in 2001 when Pearson began operating under the FremantleMedia umbrella. Today, two of our production companies still operate under the Grundy name – Grundy Productions Italy and Grundy Productions Spain.
Grundy Productions Italy began operating in 1994 and became market leader four years later with the acquisition of Mastrofilm. The company’s A Place in the Sun (Un Posto al Sole) has run since 1996 and is Italy’s longest-running soap operas. The company is now producing Thank God You’re Here and Prettiest Girl in the Class.
Grundy Productions Spain has been operating since 1991 with big ratings successes such as Let’s Make a Deal, Night Fever and The Price is Right. The company is now producing Italia's Got Talent, Quelli dell'intervallo: fuoriclasse, La Nuova Squadra 3, Password, The Farmer Wants a Wife and Take Me Out.
