9 December 2016

The iconic game show Blankety Blank is returning to ITV for a one-off Christmas special this Christmas Eve, hosted by David Walliams and produced for the channel by Thames.

The six confirmed celebrity panellists are:  presenter and broadcaster Anne Robinson, X Factor judge Louis Walsh, comedian Joe Lycett, Birds of a Feather star Lesley Joseph, Coronation Street actress  Brooke Vincent and the much-loved Chuckle Brothers.

Anne Robinson commented: “I’m thrilled to be doing the show again and am indebted to the Chuckle Brothers for explaining how it works. I never got the hang of it last time.‎”

Lesley Joseph said:  “I was delighted to be asked to take part in the Blankety Blank Christmas Special as it’s an iconic TV programme that I have watched many times over the years.  I am thrilled to be working with David Walliams and am very excited to be part of ITV’s Christmas line up.”

Louis Walsh added: “I am really excited to be taking part in Blankety Blank after 14 years off air. The worst case scenario is that contestants leave with just a Blankety Blank cheque book and pen and let’s be honest who wouldn’t want one of those!”

Blankety Blank has previously been hosted by series regulars Terry Wogan, Les Dawson and Lily Savage.  The aim of the game is for two contestants to compete head to head to match the answers of the celebrity panellists on fill in the blank statements.  The winner goes through to the much-loved Supermatch game.

Blankety Blank is a Thames production for ITV, commissioned by Peter Davey, ITV’s Head of Comedy Entertainment. The one- off special will be overseen by Suzy Lamb, Head of Entertainment for Thames. Executive Producers are Suzy Lamb and Tim Dean.
