FremantleMedia's Sorted Recognised As Best Online Program the Banff Rockies

London, 16 June 2011: FremantleMedia, one of the largest creators and producers of entertainment brands in the world, today celebrates winning Best Online Program – Entertainment for social media cooking community SORTED at the Interactive Rockies, which recognise the very best in international digital media production. The Award was presented at the Banff World Media Festival on 15 June 2011 and highlights FremantleMedia’s continued success across multiple platforms.

SORTED is a social media cooking community targeting the 18-30 demographic, produced by FremantleMedia’s central new media division FMX in association with SORTED ltd. The innovative, highly inclusive format blends video recipes with extensive fan participation to provide a cooking show that reaches out beyond the confines of a TV screen, and has attracted a huge following on multiple platforms.

Claire Tavernier, Senior Executive Vice President, FMX and Worldwide Drama, FremantleMedia said: “I am delighted that SORTED has been recognised by the jury as the world’s best online entertainment program. This is the second year in a row that we have been awarded this accolade , which clearly demonstrates FremantleMedia’s continuing commitment to innovation on cross media platforms. SORTED builds upon a diverse global portfolio of exciting digital content, as our multiple wins and nominations in the Best Online Program category illustrates. We look forward to challenging more boundaries in the future alongside our partners as we strive to grow FremantleMedia’s position as an industry leading cross media production company.”

This year’s win builds upon FremantleMedia’s success at the 2010 Rockie Awards, when FMX’s online drama FREAK was named the world’s best Original Online Program in the Interactive category. FREAK is a fully interactive experience developed by FMX that aired on MySpace in the UK.

Notes to Editors

SORTED is a social media cooking brand adapted to the needs of the 18-30 generation. At the heart of SORTED are Ben - the professionally trained chef - and Barry - his elementary school friend. Together with a bunch of other friends, they make up the SORTED crew and they’re on a mission to solve the younger generation’s cooking problems by showing them how cooking can be fun, social, cheap and simple. Central to SORTED is inclusivity; whether on YouTube, where for example the audience asks Ben for tips around cooking, or on Facebook, where they can show off the pictures of their dishes and be rated by the community. SORTED is a new type of multiplatform experience created to harness the power of communities and leverage the specific grammar of the online world, adapted to the world-class storytelling and production values that FremantleMedia is renowned for. Launched only a year ago in May 2010, SORTED is already a great success; without any marketing, SORTED rapidly grew bigger than Jamie Oliver on YouTube to become the platform's largest cooking community in the UK. Despite popular opinion, SORTED has really proved that the 18-30 demographic are definitely willing to get into the kitchen!
