MIPTV, April 02, 2012 – FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) today announced a raft of international sales for Really Me and My Babysitter’s a Vampire. The hit shows are produced by Fresh TV and FME exclusively handles the worldwide (excluding Canada) TV distribution, home entertainment and brand licensing rights.
FME has sold the TV rights for series one and two of Really Me to broadcasters around the world, including ABC in Australia, HBO Family in Latin America, for syndication to 40 territories across the region; K SIC in Portugal; and Switchover Media in Italy.
Really Me follows the life of 15-year-old Maddy, an ordinary-turned-famous 10th grader who wins the ultimate contest of landing her own reality TV show. As the middle-child, Maddy has been overshadowed for her entire life, but now it’s her turn to shine. However, with no privacy, an uptight producer, and a fridge-raiding camera guy, Maddy learns that being filmed 24/7 may not be as glamorous as she thought.
Adding to the pre-existing deal with Disney, FME has sold ratings smash My Babysitter’s A Vampire to new territories. Series one (13 x 30 minutes) and two (13 x 30 minutes), plus the accompanying TV movie (1 x 90 minute) has been taken in Russia and Turkey. The movie has also been picked up by 10 territories across Asia including Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Indonesia.
My Babysitter’s A Vampire is a fun, family-friendly tween live action series that reminds kids everywhere that no matter what kind of supernatural villains the world has in store, the scariest thing of all is still: High School!
Sander Schwartz, President, Kids & Family Entertainment, FME, said “Really Me and My Babysitter’s A Vampire are fun, unique and dynamic shows that have already proven to be a hit with the tween audience. These sales emphasise their popularity and the audience’s appetite for new and exciting tween content. Fresh TV has a real understanding of this ever-growing market and we are thrilled to be working with them to take these shows to new audiences around the globe.”
Really Me was developed by Fresh TV, in association with Family Channel. Executive producers are Tom McGillis, Jennifer Pertsch, and George Elliot; as well as FME’s Sander Schwartz and Bob Higgins. The Associate Producer is Robin McLeod and the Producer is Brian Irving. Really Me is directed by Brian Roberts, who is also the creative producer.
