London, June 2012: FremantleMedia, one of the largest creators and producers of television brands in the world, celebrates winning two Rockie Awards for German transmedia project Wer Rettet Dina Foxx? at the 2012 Banff World Media Festival, championing the very best in international television and digital media production. In addition to winning in the category of “Best Cross-Platform Project (Fiction)”, Wer Rettet Dina Foxx? was also named the Best Interactive Project overall at the Rockie Gala Awards. This is the third year in a row that FremantleMedia has won in the Interactive category at the prestigious event, highlighting the company’s continued success across multiple platforms.
Wer Rettet Dina Foxx? was produced for ZDF by UFA Lab and teamWorx, divisions of FremantleMedia’s German production arm UFA. Translated as Rescue Dina Foxx, the cross-platform experience combines TV, online, gaming and live events in a radically novel way: a TV-movie ends with a cliff-hanger and the audience must go online to find the murderer. Viewers can follow Dina Foxx in one of three ways: by becoming heavily involved in a 3-week alternate reality game, playing a concurrent point-and-click adventure or leaning back watching regular video updates. One TV movie, 300 minutes of online video, 30 audio clips, 20 fictitious websites, 30 social media platforms, one game and live events combine to make Wer Rettet Dina Foxx? Germany’s biggest ever multiple award winning alternate reality game.
Claire Tavernier, Senior Executive Vice President, FMX and Worldwide Drama, FremantleMedia, said: “I am delighted that Wer Rettet Dina Foxx? has been recognised by the international jury of the Banff Rockies as the world’s best interactive experience both in the Cross Platform Fiction category, and overall. The work of our German teams on Wer Rettet Dina Foxx? is a perfect example of FremantleMedia’s clear and on-going commitment to creating innovative, high quality entertainment experiences on both traditional and new media platforms worldwide.”
This year’s win builds upon FremantleMedia’s considerable success at the Rockie Awards over the past few years. FremantleMedia earned an impressive three nominations out of a total five in the category of Best Online Program – Entertainment at the 2011 Interactive Rockies, with social media cooking community SORTED named the category winner. SORTED is produced by FremantleMedia’s central new media division FMX in association with SORTED ltd and is now one of the world’s most popular cooking channels on YouTube, where it has attracted over ten million video views. At the 2010 Rockie Awards, FMX’s online drama FREAK was named the world’s best Original Online Program in the Interactive category. FREAK is a fully interactive experience that aired on MySpace in the UK.
