The X Factor’s YouTube channel has chalked up a huge one billion views – making it one of the most watched YouTube channels for a British television series.
The channel (http://www.youtube.com/thexfactoruk) for the country’s number one entertainment show was launched in 2010 and is one of only three UK channels to go through the billion views barrier as well as being in the top 50 of most viewed YouTube channels in the world.
Peter Cassidy, Head of Fremantle Media UK Interactive, says: “How fitting that our X Factor YouTube channel hits one Billion views just as the new series has kicked off. There have been so many great moments over the years and we look forward to creating many more this year with our partners Syco and ITV.”
Theo Luke, Head of Digital, Syco Entertainment, says: “We’re delighted that The X Factor has hit this great milestone and that our shows continue to resonate with such a passionate worldwide audience.”
Julian March, Director of Online, ITV, adds: "We know our fans want to be able to access their favourite X Factor moments across multiple channels and devices and we’re thrilled that the official The X Factor YouTube channel has reached this milestone as we welcome the brand new series to our screens.”
The most watched videos on The X Factor channel include Cher Lloyd, One Direction and one of last year’s live show finalists, Janet Devlin.
Britain’s Got Talent’s YouTube channel passed the one billion mark earlier this month so the two shows are the most watched YouTube channels for British series’ ever.
