19 November 2012 – FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) is growing their global Kids & Family Entertainment operations with the appointment of a senior strategist based in their London office. Carl Lumbard will join the company in the newly-created role of Head of Licensing Strategy & Business Development, Kids & Family Entertainment, EMEA.
In this role, Lumbard will be responsible for the commercial development of brands within the Kids & Family Entertainment portfolio across EMEA, including identifying timescales, key licensing categories, best in practice licensees and retailers, and more. Reporting to Mark Newton EVP Licensing EMEA and Dominic Burns SVP Licensing & Entertainment EMEA, he will be the vital link between the LA-based Kids & Family Entertainment content team, led by Sander Schwartz, and the licensing, home entertainment and television distribution teams across EMEA. He will also work closely with the FME Brand Management & Marketing team led by Kate Schlomann.
Lumbard brings to the role more than 20 years’ experience in international sales, marketing and licensing gained through managing globally recognised brands including The Simpsons, Family Guy, and the Ice Age franchise; and retailers including H&M, Marks & Spencer, Pimkie/Orsay Group, Auchan France and X5 Russia.
He joins FME from 20th Century Fox where he spent nearly 14 years, most recently as SVP & Managing Director Licensing and Merchandising, EMEA; before that he held senior positions at Promotional Partners Worldwide (PPW) and Warner Bros Consumer Products.
Lumbard commented, “FME’s Kids & Family Entertainment division has been really successful in a relatively short time and the portfolio of brands are perfect for long term growth across EMEA and beyond. I’m looking forward to being involved with these brands and to working with the highly regarded teams in EMEA and globally.”
With more than 15 titles in production globally FME’s kids division is one of the leading independent producers and distributors in the sector. Its growing portfolio of content spans four key genres: preschool, kids’ comedy, action/adventure and tween/teen. Key brands include Tree Fu Tom, Wizards vs. Aliens, Monsuno, and Strange Hill High.
