Pietshow is Germany’s most successful web series to date and is produced by Grundy UFA. The first season was created in collaboration with German social networking site StudiVZ/MeinVZ, while the second season was produced for Deutsche Telekom’s 3min.de, Germany’s most popular portal for online-only video content.
The aim of Pietshow is to provide sophisticated content on the internet to meet the changing demands of a fast-growing audience. For FremantleMedia’s Grundy UFA production company, it is a further example of how the Group is producing winning content for every kind of distribution path.
Pietshow features professionally produced video content specially produced for the web and is a fictional documentary about the bizarre lives of a student named Piet and his flatmates. The show has crossovers with UFA’s casting website YourChance.de, with members of the public invited to send home-video auditions for the chance to feature in the show.
Pietshow has generated almost four million views in total, and both seasons have been nominated for International Digital Emmy Awards (in 2009 and 2010).
