Cannes, MIPTV – FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) and Sundance Channel today announce the renewal of their exclusive worldwide distribution deal which has been in place since April 2006.
Since the inception of the deal FME has successfully distributed some of Sundance Channel’s hottest properties globally. Big Ideas for a Small Planet (series one, launched at MIPCOM 07), a Scout production for Sundance Channel, has sold to 94 countries and is its second series is now available for international purchase at MIPTV. This show, which has a finger on the pulse of some of the most important issues faced by humanity this century, was FME’s fastest selling show in 2007. Iconoclasts (series one to three available), another big hitter from @radical.media for Sundance Channel is now at home in a whopping 97 countries and its eagerly anticipated fourth series is currently in production. Other great titles from Sundance Channel include the quirky Nimrod Nation and Pleasure For Sale – an unflinching look at the realities of prostitution, more information on both of which can be found at the FME MIPTV stand.
Speaking of the renewal deal, Laura Michalchyshyn, Executive VP & General Manager Programming & Creative Affairs Sundance Channel, said “Thanks to FME, Sundance Channel has been successful in extending the reach of original series like Big Ideas for a Small Planet and Iconoclasts outside of the U.S. FME has made a big mark in terms of their sales, which I’ll say is very exciting for us. We are delighted to extend the current agreement and look forward to further building on this great partnership.”
